This page contains pictures and video of the model train that runs around my office at home. The track bed is
constructed of 3/4 inch plywood mounted about 13 inches down from the ceiling. The track bed is mounted on "L" shelf
brackets mounted on every stud (16 inches). The track bed is strudy enough to lay down on, in fact, it has been said that
a real SD40 engine could sit up there and the shelf would not come down (not sure about that one, but I am sure any "G" consist I
might put up there will not bring that shelf down!!! The track is mounted on 1/2 inch insulation foam that is mounted on the plywood.
I did this to deaden the sound of the train overhead.....in my case, this seems to work very good. The track is basically oval in shape and
does have a switch and a siding track (for storing rolling stock not in use).
I am currently running an Altantic Coast Line GP7 as my power, pulling 4 Atlantic Coast Line box cars, 2 CSX box cars, 1 CSX flatbed car
with a Georgia Pacific load and a bay window Atlantic Coast Line caboose. In the near future I would like to purchase a CSX SD-40 or 45 (maybe even two) to
pull this load....more for looks than anything else....as the GP7 has more than enough power to pull any consist I could put on this line. I certainly
